About Liv
The origin story …
I have spent my life dreaming of working with women & babies. One of my earliest memories was asking my Mum to play ‘birth’ with my pregnant doll! My favourite show growing up was ‘One Born Every Minute’.
When I was diagnosed with PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, formerly PCOS) at age 19, I was misinformed and devastated.
This was the ignition of my passion: to care for women holistically and appropriately at every stage of life.
I have experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, firstly in Intensive Care, and then in a Women’s Health High Dependency Unit. I loved working in these environments, and I developed so many incredible skills.
However, I had to follow my ultimate dream and become a midwife. Since registration, I have worked in a Birthing Unit and, for the last two years, in Midwifery Group Practice.
My days are a mixture of antenatal appointments, looking after women in labour, catching babies (not delivering!), and seeing women and their babies at home. It truly is the best job in the world.
The Birth of marea
My experiences as a Nurse and Midwife have illuminated where gaps exist for women & families. My goal with Marea is to fill some of these gaps!
I have experienced the benefits of Acupuncture for myself, and witnessed the effects on the women in my care.
When a beautiful Doula (shoutout https://www.maddythedoula.com.au/) casually mentioned a course in Acuneedling (acupuncture for pregnancy/labour/postbirth) existed, I jumped at the chance!
Taught by the incredible team of Dr Kate Levett (https://drkatelevett.com/about-dr-kate) & Heidi Williams (https://www.acuneedling.com/), I hold a Certificate in Acuneedling from November 2025.
I also began to see a greater need for individualised antenatal education, as every woman's (& family’s) journey to their baby is different.
Finally, I saw the benefit of debriefing women’s birth stories. My ability as a midwife to interpret the clinical side and, as a woman, empathise with the emotional side can be a stepping stone to understanding and processing.
