Frequently Asked Questions
-
‘Acuneedling’ is a style of acupuncture specifically for pregnant and postnatal women, provided by a trained professional.
I use very fine, sterile needles to target specific points on the body. -
You may be surprised by how gentle it is! Most of the time, you won’t be able to feel the needle at all.
Some women report experiencing a small pinch that subsides very quickly. Some also report feelings of warmth, heaviness, and profound relaxation during the treatments.
-
Acuneedling, combined with routine care, may help with:
Back pain / pelvic girdle pain / sciatica
Insomnia
Anxiety
Nausea / constipation / haemorrhoids
Preparation for birth
Labour activation (from 37 weeks)
Encouraging rotation of breech babies
• Postnatal recovery / milk let down / early signs of mastitis
-
This is woman-dependent.
Labour and birth preparation may commence around 34-35 weeks, and continue weekly, or more frequently as desired. Some women may only require one or two sessions to treat specific ailments.
Other treatments, e.g. breech, will require a treatment program over the course of several days or weeks.
-
Unfortunately, Acuneedling is not included in private health fund ‘extras’ just yet! Or covered by Medicare. Fingers are crossed for the future!
-

Birth debriefing includes:
Assistance/guidance in requesting medical records (if required)
Review by an experienced Midwife/Nurse of your medical records with your consent
A supportive discussion in which we review together your pregnancy, labour and birth and postnatal experience, answer questions, and help you (and your support person(s) better understand what happened.
Is this counselling or therapy?
No, birth debriefing sessions are not psychological therapy sessions.
They are an opportunity to unpack your experiences with a Midwife. If I believe you require, or you request referral for psychological support, I can help you source options.
How soon after birth?
There is no ‘right’ time - the debrief can occur anytime, even years after a birth.
-
No referral is required for any of the services provided.
Simply book via the appointments page, or contact me to learn more.
